Hey All,
As the new year begins, I continue to think about mental health in our children. I'm scared that the next generation are going to be worse off because if the declining emphasis our society places on mental health. After every school, church, or public shooting, I think to myself this has got to be the last… Until the next time it happens. These thoughts relate to something I recently saw on T.V. I was watching the Today show a couple of days ago and came across a segment that was a bit inspiring. It discussed the use of heart rate watches to explain the correlation between our emotions and heart rate. Although these watches are not a new technology, it is a very clever way to help explain the link between heart rates and our emotions to our children. I know what your thinking… That's way too expensive, or my school would never buy in. With technology ever changing, you can get basic heart rate watches relatively inexpensive. If it could improve student climate in your building, even just a little, it would lead to more academic success. If this form of teaching can save 1 child from future mental health issues, isn't it worth the money and time spent to teach this to our children? After all, it's all about the kids!
