Hey All,
I've been very lucky recently…I've been able to read and write a little bit more than usual now that I finished grad school. Last Monday I came across a great blog article, In the Spirit of Returning, by Carol Varsalona. I highly recommend this quick read. In this entry she makes it evident the importance of family and staying connected with one another. She shares a recent reunion she had with her family. A couple thoughts came to mind as I read it… First, how blessed I am to be a teacher. Every day at school I get to see my “work” family including all the staff and children I get to hang out with. Reading her blog has made me even more eager to meet all the new kids and to return to my home away from home…my classroom. As a teacher, it's easy for me to take for granted returning to my “home.” What an amazing annual family reunion! In her blog, Varsalona states that families come together for many reasons. What a privilege to come together with my “work” family to inspire creativity, innovation, and determination for generations to come! Hopefully, this will help refuel your tank before the upcoming school year, as it did mine. Guiding our youth through their educational journey is shaping our nation for years to come. After all, it's all about the kids!

Tom, thank you so much for the shoutout and relating my thoughts to your back-to-school thoughts. That is the beauty of writing-one thought leads to another. #StartStrong!
